Akwasi Peprah 

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Akwasi brings over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship, sales, customer experience, investment, scaling companies, acquisitions, finance, and Spin-offs. He’s passionate about building high-performance teams and relentlessly pursuing the highest metrics of value creation and razor focused on revenue growth and exceptional customer experience while driving impact. His work experience spans across these companies: IBM, Cisco, Department of Transportation, Khapsul, GIAC, LevaData, Fama, and MaxBalo. He holds an MBA from University of Minnesota and B.S. in Computer Science from Alabama State University.

Maxwell Abalo

Co-Founder & Chief Revenue Officer

Maxwell has over 15 years of experience in banking, risk management, and credit operations. He played a key role in the reengineering of Ghana’s banking and microfinance sectors from 2018 to 2022, driving innovation and growth. Maxwell specializes in business development, risk strategy, and financial solutions, with a focus on empowering underserved communities. His work experience includes roles at leading organizations such as Standard Chartered, Cashback Capital, and Project Domino. Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Cape Coast. His commitment to driving financial inclusion and operational excellence is at the core of his leadership at Maxbalo, where he leads risk management and strategic growth initiatives.

Sandra Adu-Akumatey

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Sandra brings 25 years of experience in entrepreneurship, business operations, customer success, strategic leadership, and scaling companies. She is passionate about building high-performance teams and relentlessly pursuing revenue growth, operational excellence, and impact. Sandra’s experience spans across industries such as finance, technology, and customer service, with leadership roles at MaxBalo, Bryjé, Morgan Stanley, Delta, Verizon Wireless, and other notable organizations. Her expertise in delivering exceptional customer experiences and strategic account management has driven significant business growth and operational efficiencies.

Dr. Martin Kwende

Co-Founder & Chief Impact Officer

Martin brings over 35 years of experience in medical device technologies, clinical research, entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, investments, and  finance. He is passionate about empowering underserved communities with financial knowledge and tools that allow individuals to live their best lives, as well as providing platforms to bridge the entrepreneurial gaps in Africa. His big vision is to empower communities, particularly immigrants and people of African descent, to achieve financial independence, create generational wealth, and contribute towards the economic growth of their communities. His work experience spans across numerous companies, including Medtronic Inc., Guidant Corporation, Arthrocare Corporation, Spiracur Inc., Transamerica Financial Advisors, World  Financial Group Insurance Agency,  GIAC and MaxBalo. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Liverpool University, UK, an MBA from San Francisco State University, USA, and a B.Sc. in Physics-with-Electronics from Liverpool University, UK..

Joe Chow

Advisor and Chief Strategy Officer

Joe brings 45 years of operational, technical, and business leadership in logistics, point-of-sale, wireless, and consumer electronics with deep skills in high volume manufacturing, business transformation and business growth.  Joe is a serial innovator and has scaled internal start-ups to over $600M of annual revenue.  He has been the President and General Manager of several multi-billion dollar businesses with a number of successful exits and carve outs.  He is currently deeply engaged with start-ups driving technology and products that will define the next wave of global transformations including AI, micro financing, elder care, advanced materials, and communications.

Joseph Atkin

Advisor and Chief Legal Officer

Joseph is a seasoned legal and business advisor with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of law, compliance, and entrepreneurship. With 8 years as a corporate immigration attorney, Joseph built a deep expertise in advising companies (from venture-backed start-ups to Fortune 500 multinationals) on complex compliance matters. After transitioning from full-time legal practice, Joseph became a small business owner and investor, bringing firsthand insight into the legal and strategic challenges of growing companies. At MaxBalo, Joseph serves as a trusted advisor on legal strategy, regulatory compliance, and business operations.
